After I spent all Sunday afternoon on the computer, I rose to pour a glass of sweet tea and sat on the back porch. While Colonel patrolled for squirrels, I stared at my spreadsheet of hikers who fell or were lost in the Yakima area.

“According to my spreadsheet, the number one hobby in Yakima is falling and getting lost. Wonder if Monica’s finding the same thing in Albuquerque?”

When I went inside the house to read, I glanced at the computer. “Is the age of the person who fell significant?”

After I fed Colonel, I spent the rest of the evening on the computer. I stopped at nine to throw together a cheese sandwich. After I’d eaten half my sandwich, I poured a glass of sweet tea and gulped down half of it.

“Cheese and bread by themselves are dry. Remind me to add a little mayonnaise and mustard next time, Colonel.”

I finished my dry sandwich and gazed at my results. Dead end.

“Wouldn’t you think most of the hikers were young, Colonel? Lots of people my age hike. Now I feel bad.”
